Asha Bhosle began her Bollywood singing career in 1948 and sang playback for various actresses in the 50s. She mainly received those projects which were rejected by senior singers.
Asha Bhosle sang cabaret and other item numbers songs sets aside for the 'vamps' or the sexy sirens of the movies. This indirectly helped her to carve a niche for herself as a seductive, melodious singer with the range in her voice.
